Administrative history

The Western Canada Sunday School Caravan Mission was founded in 1920 by Anglican missionary Eva Hasell (1886-1974). Hasell, originally from England, arrived in Regina, SK of that year to travel across the Prairie provinces and provide Sunday school services in the Anglican tradition to remote communities.

In her initial mission, she traveled over 5,000 kilometers in a van during the course of the spring and summer of 1920. The mission continued in subsequent years with women missionaries arriving from England to travel in specially-purchased and equipped vans to spread Anglican teachings and foster relations between western Canada and the United Kingdom and Church of England.

The mission continued in some form into the 21st century, with young volunteers still traveling to rural communities to provide or supplement Anglican Sunday school services in Alberta.
