    In 1905, a group of tradesman banded together and joined with the Sheet Metal Workers' International Association to form a local union for Sheet Metal workers in Edmonton in an effort to obtain better wages, safety regulations, benefits and job site conditions.

    Sheet Metal Union, Local No. 8 maintains administrative offices in Edmonton and Calgary, and holds regular meetings in five cities throughout Alberta.
