    Administrative history

The School Act, 1931, Amendment Act, 1936 (SA 1936, c. 85) provided for consolidation of school districts into larger administrative bodies known as school divisions. In 1939, Sturgeon School Division formed, taking administrative responsibility for numerous one-room school districts of the region. Mr. Speers served as Chairman of the Board, J.E. Holmes as Vice Chairman, E. Meaden as Secretary-Treasurer, and Mr. LeBlanc as Superintendent of Schools.

In 1961, the County of Sturgeon formed, and all responsibilities of the former division transferred to the County of Sturgeon. In 1965, after a county plebiscite ruled to revert to status as a Municipal District, Sturgeon School Division reorganized.

Sturgeon School Division continues to operate in the areas of Riviere Qui Barré, Bon Accord, Gibbons, Redwater, and Namao St. Albert.
